Record growth for 2019 Pan Am Games

The overall distribution of country spots to all 11 of the sailing events in the 2019 Pan Am Games has been finalized in anticipation of the competition on August 3-10 in Paracas, Peru. Held every four years, the Pan Am Games attracts athletes from nations of the Americas in the year before the Summer Olympic Games.
Sailing has experienced an overall 20% growth in participating countries from Toronto 2015. A record breaking 26 nations will be sending 168 athletes and 120 boats to compete in the 11 events at the Lima 2019 Games.
Contributing to participation is the added attraction of TOKYO 2020 Country Qualifications being offered in five events – the Men’s and Women’s Dinghy, the Men’s and Women’s Skiff and the Mixed Multihull events – as well as the first-ever participation of Open Kiteboarding.
