Discard day at Lightning North Americans

Published on August 14th, 2019

Point Abino, ONT (August 14, 2019) – Shifty, shifty was the name of the game at the first day of championship racing at the Lightning North Americans. Local David Starck sailing with Jody Lutz and Dylan Farrell lead the Championship Fleet with a 2-1-18. Tim Scanlon, sailing with Sam Williams and Bernie Roesler, won the third race and are tied for second place with Rob Crane sailing with sister, Kelly Crane and Connor Aswad with 27 points.

“It was a tough day, we feel lucky to come out of it near the top,” shared Scanlon. “We managed to sail free, on a side and just tried to do our best against the boats around us. It was a fight all the way around the race course.”

Racing continues tomorrow with two scheduled races. The forecast continues to look on the lighter side with wind from the East, at 8-10 knots.

Seventy-two teams are racing from August 12 to 16.
