A-Class Catamaran North Americans

Published on November 1st, 2019

The 2019 A-Class Catamaran North American Championships were held October 29 to November 1 in St. Petersburg, FL. Two divisions, Classic and Foiling, attracted 60 competitors.

Six races were completed throughout the four days of competition, with the first two days sailed in 5 to 8 knots of breeze, with days three and four bringing more breeze, allowing the foiling catamarans to show off their skills.

Bob Curry took the Classic title by one point over Bob Webbon while Mischa Heemskerk and Bruce Mahoney tied in the Foiling division, with Heemskerk winning on countback.

Hosted by St. Petersburg Yacht Club, the A-Class Catamaran will return to the venue for the 2020 A-Class Catamaran North American Championships and the 2020 A-Class Catamaran World Championships.
