Seabrook, TX (June 19, 2020) – The inaugural RS21 North American Championships are the first event hosted in Lakewood Yacht Club’s new fleet of 12 RS21s with 17 teams competition in a round robin format.

Day one saw nine races sailed with two rotations allowing each team to sail six races in 10-15 knots. Travis Weisleder dominated day one with four first places and all top three finishes, followed by Glenn Darden and John Lovell.

Careful consideration was taken prior to hosting this event, with special precautions due to the COVID-19 disease being taken including full washdown of the boats each day, limiting each team to rotating between two boats, and buffs handed out to each competitor.

Racing will continue through June 21 culminating in Gold and Silver fleet racing to determine the event champion.
