Exhausting schedule in Kingston

Published on August 17th, 2022

Sailing at the Montreal 1976 Olympics was held to the southwest in Kingston on Lake Ontario, and in anticipation of the Games, CORK was established in 1969 to host international sailing events. That thunder continues today.

Short for Canadian Olympic-training Regatta, Kingston, CORK has legions of volunteers to manage a massive regatta schedule that in 2022 included:

July 21-24 – Sail Canada 49er and 49erFX Senior Championships
August 4-7 – Sail Canada 29er Youth Championships
August 9-12 – Sail Canada ILCA 4, ILCA 6, and Club 420
August 13-16 – Sail Canada ILCA 6 and ILCA 7 Senior Championships

For the second year, the calendar also includes the Sail Canada Open Kiteboarding Senior Championships. Kiteboarding, one of the new sailing events that will be added to the program at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, will be featured on August 18-21, at the same time as the CORK Olympic Classes Regatta.

Fourteen kiteboarders from Ontario, Quebec, Alberta, and the United States will battle for the title. – Details
