Countdown to 2023 Melges 24 Worlds

The countdown is on for the 2023 Melges 24 World Championship with racing on June 27-July 1 in Middelfart, Denmark. The venue hosted this event eight years ago, with 47 entrants from 13 nations vying for the title during this 30th year for the Class.

Introduced in 1993, built by Melges Performance Sailboats and designed by Reichel/Pugh in the United States, the inaugural World Championship took place in Torqay, UK with 95 boats from 14 nations competing and won by Vince Brun, Ian Walker, Simon Fry, and Simon Russell

Brun returns this year to support and coach Drew Freides’ team of Pacific Yankees from US won won the pre-Worlds training regatta two weeks ago. Also attending is the reigning World Champion Peter Duncan, and both the World Champion and Corinthian World Champion of the 2015 edition here in Middelfart – Chris Rast and Tõnu Tõniste.
