No Clubhouse, No Problem

Published on March 4th, 2024

Since the California Yacht Club in Los Angeles lost its clubhouse in a fire on December 11, how best to move forward has been a look at long-term and short-term needs.

The timeline to rebuild California Yacht Club’s club house will unfold over the next several years, while in the meantime, CYC is seeking out solutions for a temporary club house that could become available mid-year. As for the 2024 regatta schedule, it’s all systems go.

The club’s popular weeknight Sunset Series is slated to begin April 17, running every Wednesday evening through September 4. On March 2-3, CYC hosted 27 Optimist sailors amid winter storms that delivered 25 knot gusts, delivering their second regatta for 2024 and the first junior event of the season.

The club is looking forward to a full racing season in spite of slightly different facilities than they’ve enjoyed in the past. The Club and Race Committee encourages the racing community to support one of their upcoming events by registering to race:

• June 1-2: Cal Race Week
• July 13-14: King of Spain
• August 15-18: ILCA Masters North Americans
• September 13-15: Optimist West Coast Championships
