Wing failure for Brazil SailGP Team
Published on September 10th, 2024
The effort for the SailGP league to upskill teams took a step backwards when the F50 wing collapsed on September 9 during a training session with the new Brazilian team in Bermuda.
Four teams were scheduled to participate, but only the USA completed their turn, and it is uncertain whether repairs can be made for Brazil, Denmark, and Germany to continue.
“We had a very good training period in Bermuda, with a quick adaptation to the boat – the entire team is very pleased with the progress,” noted Brazilian driver Martine Grael. “A material failure involving the F50 wing interrupted training.
“Fortunately, everyone is fine and that’s the most important part. We’re working closely with the team to understand next steps, and look forward to getting back to full preparation as soon as possible.”
