Giving ocean health a voice
Published on May 27th, 2025
A new campaign designed to capture the world’s emotional connection to the ocean has been launched ahead of the third United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC3) in Nice, France. The Ocean’s Logbook is an interactive digital survey that looks beyond cold statistics to capture real stories, listening to people’s voices and feelings, as they share their experiences living in a world impacted by declining ocean health.
The goal is for personal stories from around the world to help make the case for 30×30, the global goal to protect 30% of the ocean by 2030. All entries will be delivered to leaders at the UN Ocean Conference on June 9, 2025.
“It is clear that our leaders are not moving fast enough to meet their 30×30 commitments towards ocean protection,” said Richard Brisius, Chairman of The Ocean Race. “The Ocean’s Logbook is a way to gauge and amplify public sentiment and remind those in charge that 30×30 is not just a target, but a promise that needs to be kept if we are to protect the ocean, and our shared future on this blue planet.”
