Launched on February 14, 2026, the new Maxi Edmond de Rothschild reached a decisive milestone in its development phase when the 32-metre trimaran completed its first test runs in full flight.
Fitted with its first foil – a Y-shaped pendulum appendage of unprecedented dimensions inspired by America’s Cup monohulls, the performance occured on May 26 in winds between 10 and 13 knots off the coast of Belle-Île near Lorient, France.
“In the life of a boat, three months after its launch, we’re really in the phase of discovery and fine-tuning, but in my mind I’m already focused on performance and competition,” explained skipper Charles Caudrelier.
The team’s first race will be the 2026 Route du Rhum – Destination Guadeloupe which starts November 1.
