Game time for College Spring Nationals

Published on May 22nd, 2023

The Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) 2022-23 season comes to a close with three national championships on May 23-June 2 in Kings Point, NY:

• Women’s National Semifinals Championship – May 23-24
• Women’s National Finals Championship – May 25-26
• Open Team Race National Championship – May 27-29
• Open National Semifinals Championship – May 30-31
• Open National Finals Championship – June 1-2

The United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) will host these events out of the Yocum Sailing Center. Having hosted the national championships in 2000, this facility has direct access to Long Island Sound with bleacher-style seating off the sea wall and the All-American Room overlooking the Sound and Manhattan’s skyline.

Long Island Sound can give very tricky conditions during the spring season. Aside from pronounced current, the wind may be from the South, making the breeze super shifty as it comes over the hills and buildings, or from the East which creates waves that build from Long Island Sound.

While defending champions Tulane University and Boston College will seek to defend their respective titles in the Open and Women’s Nationals, it will be 2022 Team Race champs Yale University that enters as the favorite in all three events based on 2023 rankings in fleet race and team race.

Online livestream will start May 25 with a Pre-Race Show beginning at 1:30 PM ET each day: https://icsa.live/

National Championship Schedule:
April 29-30, Women’s Team Race – Stanford, CA
May 23-26, Women’s Fleet Race – Kings Point, NY
May 27-29, Open Team Race – Kings Point, NY
May 30-June 2, Open Fleet Race – Kings Point, NY
