Singlehanded Transatlantic Record Ratified

The World Sailing Speed Record Council has ratified the Singlehanded Transatlantic Record set by Francis Joyon (FRA) sailing the 118-foot trimaran IDEC. Joyon completed the 2880 mile route on June 11-16, 2013 in 5 days 2 hours 56 minutes and 10 seconds (avg speed of 23.41 knots). This eclipsed the previous record by Thomas Coville (FRA) on Sodebo of 05:19:30:40 in July 2008.
