English Channel Crossing Record Confirmed

The World Sailing Speed Record Council has ratified the establishment of a new Cowes (GBR) to Dinard (FRA) outright record. The 105-ft trimaran Lending Club, sailed by Renaud Laplanche (USA/FRA), Ryan Breymaier (USA), and a crew of six, covered the distance of 138 nm on April 1, 2015 in 05:14:47 for an average speed of 26.28 knots. The previous record of 05:23:38 was set on Maiden II by Thompson/Darvelid (GBR) in September 2002.
