World Council announces Singlehanded 24 Hour Record

The World Sailing Speed Record (WSSR) Council announced the establishment of a new World Record for Singlehanded 24 Hour. The Yacht “Masif”, a 30 metre Trimaran skippered by Francois Gabart (FRA) from July 2 at 19.20.002 to July 3, 2016 at 19.20.002. Gabart sailed a distance of 784 nautical miles over the 24 hours at an average speed of 32.67 knots. The previous record was set by Thomas Coville (FRA), skippering “Sodebo4”, a 120-foot trimaran, 718 nm at an average speed of 32.67 kts in June of this year.
