Garda delivers at Kona Worlds

Published on August 18th, 2019

Torbole, Italy (August 18, 2019) – The 2019 Kona World Championships closed today with 15 to 18 knots for two more races, continuing the streak of dream weather for the 13-race series.

In the male category, Huig-Jan Tak (NED) had almost no rivals, especially in the races today in which he won with big gaps, for him to secure the title that he had previously won in 2016. Tim Aagesen (DEN) finished second with defending champion Alexander Temko (USA) in third.

Temko confirmed himself as U18 Kona World Champion followed by the compatriot Maverick Putnam (USA), who climbed up to the fourth position in the overall ranking.

In the female category, the Swedish Johanna Hjertberg won the title with Canadian Andree Gauthier as the runner-up while Jerry Caplan (CAN) was the top Grand Master (65+).

The 14th Kona One World Championship was held August 15 to 18 on Lake Garda.
