Verve Cup Inshore Regatta 2019

Chicago, IL (August 25, 2019) – The 2019 Verve Cup Inshore Regatta & J/70 Great Lakes Championship was held August 23 – 25. Open to one design fleets for boats 30 feet 6 inches long or shorter, the event attracted J/70s, J/24s, Etchells, Sonars, Colgate 26s, and DragonForce 65s.

The J/70 fleet raced over three days while the rest of the fleets raced over two days. The Colgate 26, Shields, and Sonar fleets completed three races, the J/24, Dragon Force 65, and Etchells fleets completed six races.

The J/70 fleet had 9 races to make up the class’ Great Lakes Championship, Oivind Lorentzen (Greenwich, CT) with crew Lucas Calabrese, Ian Coleman, and Collin Leon won the weekend with 14 points. The second place overall team in the J/70 class was team Berteau Group (Chicago, IL), who won the Corinthian trophy, with 39 points. Berteau Group had Sarah Renz at the helm with Matt Clark, Andy Graff, Will Holz, and Michael Miller crewing.
