Solo triple amputee across the Pacific

A veteran who lost both legs and his left arm serving in Afghanistan has begun his challenge to become the first triple amputee to sail solo across the Pacific Ocean.
Craig Wood (GBR) was 18 years old and only three months into his first tour when he suffered life-changing injuries from a roadside bomb in Sangin, southern Afghanistan, in 2009.
Sailing his 40-foot aluminum catamaran called Sirius II, the 33-year-old left from Puerto Vallarta in Mexico on March 25. Wood will sail 6,000 nm solo and unsupported across 80 days and is expected to finish in Osaka, Japan in early May. – Full report
