Great Britain win at SailGP Saint-Tropez
Published on September 12th, 2025
France Sail Grand Prix in Saint-Tropez, planned for September 12-13, cancelled racing for the second day due to thunderstorms forecasted for the racing area. The Great Britain SailGP Team took the event win after posting scores of 2-4-6-1 from the four fleet races.
Starting and consistency was a challenge as offshore winds provided massive shifts and puffs on the Bay of Saint-Tropez, with Peter Burling’s Kiwi squad doing next best to finish second followed by Diego Botin’s Spain SailGP Team in third.
The GBR team moves into second on the overall Rolex SailGP Championship standings, while New Zealand takes the top spot. Australia dropped to third after a fifth place finish. Spain, who finished third on the event leaderboard, have now closed in on the podium group to fourth overall, while the gap widens for France and Canada, fifth and sixth respectively.
Three events remain to determine the top three teams for the Championship Final Race in the Abu Dhabi, UAE.
