Francis Joyon nears midpoint in record attempt

(June 13, 2013; Day 3) – Francis Joyon nears the midpoint in his attempt to set a new west to east singlehanded transatlantic record from New York, and is hopeful the second half of the journey will exceed the first part. Trailing the record pace by 106nm, Joyon and his 29.7m maxi-trimaran IDEC will have to cross the latitude of The Lizard by 0445hrs UTC (0645hrs CET) on Monday June 17 to break the record of 05:19:30:40 set in July 2008 by Thomas Coville on his trimaran Sodebo. – Full report
