WSSRC ratifies new Discovery Route record

The World Sailing Speed Record Council has ratified a new world record for the singlehanded passage from Cadiz, Spain to San Salvador, also known as The Discovery Route. Sailing the 103-foot trimaran Banque Populaire 7, Armel Le Cleac’h (FRA) completed the 3884 mile route in 6 days 23 hours 42 minutes and 18 seconds on January 23-30, 2014 (average speed: 23.16 kts). The previous record of 8d 16h 7m 5s was held by Francis Joyon (FRA) and Idec. Source.
