WSSRC ratifies new singlehanded 24 hour record

The World Sailing Speed Record Council has ratified a new world singlehanded 24 hour record. Sailing the 103-foot trimaran Banque Populaire 7, Armel Le Cleac’h (FRA) completed the 682.85 mile distance on January 26-27, 2014 at an average speed of 28.45 knots. The previous record of 666.2 miles (27.74 kts) was set in 2012 by Francis Joyon (FRA) and Idec. Source.
