On this week’s “World on Water” global sailing news show:
In this episode, the long awaited 2017 Transpac starts with the fleet in a staggered start on the US mainland racing to Hawaii in hopefully record times. Phaedo3, the MOD701 trimaran and mono Comanche will both be vying to break records and Comanche was on course to do so after setting a new 24 hour position report record (0800 Friday – 0800 Saturday) of 484 miles.

What happened to the Auld Mug? Well, it’s in wet Auckland out of its case and travelling down Queen Street in pouring rain without a whit glove in sight. The silverware is home in the RNZYS ready for more changes, meanwhile in Corfu the Mini-Maxi 72 Class face off and look fantastic.

Aussie David Witt talks of his motivation to be in this year’s edition of the Volvo Round the World Race, Foiling Week Days 1, 2 & 3 on Lake Garda, while Richie Port is crashing out of La Tour de France in the mountains at sea some of the boats in the on-water version are doing the same, the Star Worlds started, Moose IKA Asian Championships.
