New Around Britain and Ireland Record

The World Sailing Speed Record Council has confirmed the establishment of a new Around Britain and Ireland World Record for boats 40 feet and under. The new elapsed time of 8 days 4 hours 14 minutes and 49 seconds was set by skipper Phil Sharp (GBR) on Imerys Clean Energy with Pablo Santurdé, Sam Matson, and Julien Pulvé, covering the 1773nm course at an average speed of 9.03 knots on August 12 to 20, 2018. The previous record OF 8d 19h 6m 49s was set in August 2014 by Roderick Knowles (GBR) on Swish.
