2019 Santa Barbara to King Harbor Race

Published on July 27th, 2019

Seventy-four teams competed in the 47th Santa Barbara to King Harbor Race, an 81 nm course along California coastline that goes around Anacapa Island followed by a long downwind leg to the finish.

Starting on July 26, competitors from twenty-five different yacht clubs participated, and were grouped into eleven fleets, based on similar performance. Those fleets included a Cruising fleet, as well as a Multihull fleet. The fastest fleet included several 50-footers and one 100-foot yacht!

The first boat to finish, with the lowest elapsed time, was the Transpac 52 Vesper, skippered by David Team, from Newport Harbor Yacht Club. They finished at 19:06:35 after the start with the final finisher crossing the line just after 10:00 am on the following day.
