2019 Optimist US National Champs

The 2019 Optimist US National Championships were held July 21-28 on Lake St. Clair in Detroit, MI. The schedule got started with the Team Race Nationals (July 21-23) won by Lauderdale Yacht Club (FL), followed by the 73-boat Girls Nationals (July 24) which was won with all firsts by Samara Walshe. The finale was the Open Nationals (July 25-28) which saw the 86-boat gold flight dominated by Gil Hackel (above) who won 7 of the 10 races.
