Mauritius Route record confirmed

The World Sailing Speed Record Council has ratified a new World Record for the 8100 nm route from Port Louis (Lorient) to Port Louis (Mauritius). Now holding the fastest solo time is Francis Joyon (FRA) on the 31.5 trimaran IDEC Sport, who in 2019 from October 19 to November 8 covered the distance in 19:18:14:45 for an average speed of 17.08 knots. This improves on Joyon’s previous mark set in November 2009 of 26:04:13:29.
