This was really like coming home

What’s interesting about high performance sailing is that equipment doesn’t stand still. Clever people keep pushing forward, but this progression had dire consequences for one design windsurfing classes. They just weren’t cool enough, but now what’s old is new again.

The Windsurfer LT is an updated version of the original Windsurfer that made windsurfing the fastest growing sport in the late 70s. This rebirth of the original has caused quite a stir worldwide, and 40 years since Peter Hart first tried the original, he shares the experience:

Yes, we may love our carbon and titanium in products that let us scream ever faster towards our maker – but from the following the LT now has, it’s clear we also like uncluttered fun on a combo that allows you to go anywhere in pretty much any wind with a bunch of like-minded souls.

“Having spent a squillion hours farting around on lakes on the original back in the day, this was really like coming home!”
