Evolving plan for Antigua in 2027

Published on June 29th, 2026

Antigua, one of the Leeward Islands in the Caribbean region, was home to 56 editions of Antigua Sailing Week. This was historically the last stop on the winter circuit for Caribbean keelboat racing, but that all changed in 2026.

The Antigua government was not happy with declining participation, so the plan was revised with separate back-to-back events in April. Antigua Sailing Week would continue, but its focus would be on point-to-point courses for leisure racing while the new Antigua Racing Cup would be for the racing purists.

The plan will get further tweaked for 2027:

• Antigua Racing Cup gets scheduled earlier on March 17-21 to strengthen the event’s position in the international racing calendar and improve the timing for boats to maximize their racing time in the Caribbean and still make the summer season in Europe and North America. – Details

• Free of the hard-core racers, the 58th edition of Antigua Sailing Week stays on schedule, providing a point-to-point format on April 21-25. As in 2026, the fleet will tour the island with a variety of destinations along the four-day event. – Details
