The World Sailing Speed Record Council has confirmed the establishment of a new World Record from Hong Kong to London by Francis Joyon (FRA) and his four crew on the 103-foot trimaran IDEC Sport. Joyon’s team completed the 12948nm course from January 18 to February 19 in 2020, setting an elapsed time of 31 days 23 hours 36 minutes and 46 seconds (avg. 16.87 knots). This breaks the previous crewed record set in February 2018 by the MOD70 Maserati led by Giovanni Soldini (ITA) of 36:02:37:12.
